What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; There is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV)

CORE PRINCIPLE 2:
Follow the example given us by Jesus Christ and love all people by overcoming our human desire to exclude based on behavior.

Jesus replied, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest  commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39 (NLT)
     Just to recap what we talked about yesterday. We covered
THE DYNAMICS OF CHANGE and the two simple steps we all must take to bring God's change to this world.
STEP #1:     Open one's life to God and SERVE! This is a simple step and the Bible supports this in many places. In fact the Apostle John wrote, If anyone boasts, "I love God," and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he's a liar. If he won't love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can't see? 1 John 4:20 (MSSG)
     The next one is equally simple; STEP # 2:    Open one's life to your neighbor and SERVE! And look again at the words with meaning John shares with us; The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You've got to love both. 1 John 4:21 (MSSG)
     So there we have it. Our next step is to open ourselves to God and our neighbors, and do it!

OCTOBER 2018

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; There is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV)

In a paper titled; "Carrying a Weight Beyond Its Numbers: Fifty-Five Years of People-Centered Development in Vietnam" Paul Shetler Fast opens the paper with the following description of the Mennonite ministry in Vietnam;
        "When 23-year-old Delbert Wiens was sent to Vietnam in 1954, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) asked him to set up a program that would serve the people of Vietnam through a consistently MCC pattern of service. Through fifty-five years of civil strife, international war reconstruction, and political reformation MCC's work in Vietnam was remarkably consistent in its fundamental approach and uniquely successful within its context. Faced with the same competing demands as its peers-serving the people, preserving the agency's integrity and viability, maintaining constituency support, and keeping staff safe-MCC made different choices. Its people-centered model had three key elements that separated it from its peer institutions: centering on long-term relationships above program efficiency; maintaining a consistent peace position; and remaining responsive to staff, clients, and constituents."
         These Core principles have served as a clear guide, a road map if you will. And the result has been tremendous ministry outreach. So look to the Vision God has given us, and use the Core Principles given in the same process. Here they are:
CORE PRINCIPLE 1:
Mobilize the people of God to provide for the physical and spiritual needs of the local community and beyond our comfort zones.  (See Matt. 28: 18-20)
CORE PRINCIPLE 2:
Follow the example given us by Jesus Christ and love all people by overcoming our human desire to exclude based on behavior. (See Matt. 22: 37-39)
CORE PRINCIPLE 3:
Build ministries on the foundation of God's desire to bring new beginning and spiritual resurrection into every life. (See Isaiah 61:1)
